Pierluigi Biondi, 47-year-old outgoing mayor of Fdi and re-nominated by the center-right who took to the united field, is in the lead in the exit polls in the first round, keeping at a distance the Aquila deputy of the Pd Stefania Pezzopane, (62) candidate for mayor of a center-left who took a divided field, it is no coincidence that Americo Di Benedetto, (54) Abruzzo regional councilor on the Legnini list President at the head of three center-left civic lists is given as the third. In fourth place the manager of a multinational Simona Volpe (53) candidate of the civic list “Liber L’Aquila”.
Biondi fluctuates with a range that goes from 49 to 53 percent of voters, Pezzopane between 23 and 27, Di Benedetto stands between 21 and 25 percent.
This is what the exit polls say that in this municipal electoral round they also included L’Aquila, with Genoa, Catanzaro and Palermo, among the four regional capitals to vote on today’s election day.
The counting will begin tomorrow at 2 pm and on that occasion the projections will be released, more reliable than the exits.
The vote in L’Aquila has been in the national limelight for weeks, so much so that practically all the blogs of national politics have paraded in the regional capital.
The national importance is also linked to the proximity to Rome, about 100 kilometers, but above all to the “brand” since, unfortunately, L’Aquila is known throughout the country and in the world for the devastating earthquake that caused 309 deaths, 1500 wounded by wreaking havoc.
In this scenario of great national attention, a decisive game was played for the future of L’Aquila in the next five years with the decisive step for infrastructural reconstruction but above all for the social and economic one. To achieve the goal, the new mayor of L’Aquila will have huge funds and unrepeatable opportunities available: according to an estimate in the next five years, the availability will be around 5 billion euros, 700 million per year for a total of 3.5 billion for completion. of the private post earthquake reconstruction and a strong impulse in the public one, about 1.8 billion of the complementary fund of the Pnrr reserved for the earthquake crater, places which lack the significant share of the Pnrr.
Five years ago Di Benedetto clashed for the center-left and Biondi who had sensationally won in the ballot, after having clearly lost the first round, 47.7% compared to 35.84% for the center-right.
