(ANSA) – ROME, JUN 14 – MoDusArchitects and Atelier Remoto are the winners of the Italian Architecture Award 2022, announced by Maxxi and Triennale. This was announced by the president of the foundation Giovanna Melandri, specifying that the Lifetime Achievement Award was awarded this year to the Milanese designer Andrea Banzi.

MoDusArchitects, a Bressanone studio founded by Matteo Scagnol and Sandy Attia, received the award for “the best building built in the last 3 years” for the renovation and expansion of Accademia Cusanus, the first modern building included under the protection of architectural heritage and artistic ones of the Province of Bolzano. Atelier Remoto, a studio founded in 2014 by Valentina Merz and Lara Monacelli Bani, was awarded the award for best young designer for his Dandalò (2022), the winning installation of the first edition of NXT, the new Maxxi program dedicated to the promotion of young architects and the enhancement of public space.

“After three years, the collaboration with the Milan Triennale has turned out to be natural and very productive – said Melandri at the awards ceremony this afternoon at Maxxi -. The choices made by the juries have greatly contributed to bringing out a new generation of Italian designers, concrete, innovative and at the same time very sensitive to social and environmental issues “. The Award, recalled Boeri, “was born from the commitment shared by Triennale and MAXXI to promote a virtuous relationship between people, the environment and the built spaces, in the light of those principles that also guide the New European Bauhaus promoted by European Commission, to which we joined immediately. The projects selected and the winners of the third edition of the Prize are proof of how this change is already underway “.

From the president of the Triennale a particular recognition to Andrea Branzi, “extraordinary master of architecture and design who was able to anticipate and interpret important social and cultural transformations. We are happy and honored to be able to present his new project at the 23rd International Exhibition, which we will open on July 15th “. (HANDLE).
