According to renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Samsung would definitely give up its Exynos chips next year. This change would allow all Galaxy smartphones to have the same chip.

Samsung doesn’t want to repeat the mistake it made with the Galaxy S22. According to the analyst Ming Chikuo, Samsung would soon consider replacing its internal chips with Qualcomm’s for its upcoming high-end smartphones.

A first step towards a complete transition

According to him, Qualcomm would a priori become the sole supplier of the Galaxy S23 chips. Samsung would 100% adopt Qualcomm’s next chip in its devices, not being able to compete with the future Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

1. Qualcomm will likely be the sole processor supplier for the Samsung Galaxy S23 (versus 70% shipping for the S22) thanks to the upcoming SM8550 5G chip manufactured by TSMC 4nm.

There were already rumors of a possible cessation of production of the Exynos chips by 2023 which would allow Samsung to focus solely on its new internal chip. This hypothesis now seems on the verge of becoming reality.

Qualcomm’s upcoming 4nm chip etched by TSMC would be better optimized and would have obvious advantages in power and energy efficiency over the previous model that a new Samsung chip couldn’t fill.

A revolutionary decision for Qualcomm

Until now, Qualcomm’s chips had almost always avoided the European market when it came to Samsung smartphones and here they were replaced by Exynos chips which offered noticeable differences in terms of power and heat management.

The move would result in a larger market share for Qualcomm in the high-end Android market in 2023, with the company only supplying 70% of the chips used in the Galaxy S22 so far.

We will have to wait a few more months to find out what strategy Samsung will adopt in anticipation of its upcoming announced switch to its hardware, but this news should please Samsung fans who would also be entitled to faster updates than before. .
