Description
A crispy crab appetizer with tender crab meat, a golden breadcrumb crust, and a touch of spice. Perfect for entertaining or a delicious treat at home.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb fresh lump crab meat (picked over for shells)
- ½ cup breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch)
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
- ¼ cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- ½ teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- ½ cup breadcrumbs (for coating)
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- ½ cup vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine crab meat, breadcrumbs, egg, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, garlic powder, lemon juice, and parsley. Gently mix to combine, being careful not to break up the crab meat.
- Scoop about 1 tablespoon of the mixture and shape into small patties or balls.
- In a shallow dish, mix breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, and paprika. Roll each patty in the breadcrumb mixture to coat evenly.
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry the crab patties in batches for 2–3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Transfer fried patties to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
- In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sriracha, honey, and lime juice to make the dipping sauce.
- Serve crab patties warm with dipping sauce, garnished with lemon wedges and fresh parsley.
Notes
For a lighter option, bake or air fry the crab patties instead of frying. Adjust the spice level in the dipping sauce by adding more or less sriracha.
